Girls soccer roundup: One goal enough for Peters Twp.; C-M tied by Bethel Park

Hannah Stuck’s goal 11 minutes into the match held up as the lone score as Peters Township blanked Upper St. Clair 1-0 in Section 2-AAAA Wednesday night.
The win keeps Peters Township undefeated both in section (2-0) and overall (8-0).
Kaila McFerran was credited with an assist on Stuck’s goal, which sent USC’s record to 1-2-1, 2-4-2.
• Bethel Park’s Savannah Popp scored a goal in the second half, helping the winless Black Hawks forge a stunning 1-1 tie with Canon-McMillan in Section 2-AAAA.
Canon-McMillan, the defending state champion, is 3-0-1 in the section and 5-0-1 overall. The Big Macs have won 27 of their last 29 section matches. The only blemishes on the record are a pair of ties with Bethel Park, including one last year.
Addie Roman gave Canon-Mac a 1-0 lead with a goal in the first half.
Bethel Park is 0-2-2 in section and 0-5-3 overall.
• Trinity won its first 3-AAA match and did so in convincing fashion, steamrolling visiting West Mifflin 7-0.
Hannah Abbondanza led the way for the Hillers with three goals and Alex Rosser followed with two tallies. Angelina King and Julia Chakos also scored for Trinity, which is 1-4-1 in section and 2-4-1 overall.
West Mifflin is 0-5, 0-7.
• South Fayette remained in second place in Section 4-AAA with a 3-0 shutout of visiting Blackhawk.
Brenna McGuire and Sarah Meindl scored the first two goals for the Lions and Rachel Weis finished the scoring with a goal off a penalty kick.
South Fayette is 4-1-1 in section and 5-1-2 overall.
• Bentworth defeated Chartiers-Houston 9-1 in a Section 2-A.
Alyssa Daugherty scored the lone goal for Chartiers-Houston (1-4-1, 2-6-1).
The win keeps Bentworth undefeated in section play at 4-0-1. The Bearcats are 5-2-1 overall.
