Stafford, California in a rush, handles Mapletown

CALIFORNIA – Jelani Stafford ran for 155 yards on only seven carries and scored three touchdowns to lead California to a 63-8 victory over Mapletown in a Tri-County South Conference game Friday night.

Stafford scored on runs of 29, 25 and 55 for Cal (3-0, 5-0). Lucas Qualk added TD runs of 11 and 30 yards. The Trojans rushed for 348 yards and had 496 yards total offense.

Cal’s defense held Dylan Rush, who set the WPIAL single-game rushing record last weekend, to 87 yards on 19 carries as Mapletown fell to 1-2 and 2-3. Rush had a 56-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
