Boys soccer roundup: Big first half sparks Bentworth in 4-A

Brian Hustava, Blaine Fowler, Jacob Davis each scored in the first half as Bentworth defeated visiting Chartiers-Houston 3-1 Tuesday night in Section 4-A.
Bentworth improved to 6-3 in the section and 8-4 overall. The Bearcats are tied for second place in the section. Chartiers-Houston is 5-4 in section and 6-6 overall.
Neither team scored in the second half. Spencer Kane had the C-H goal.
Goalkeeper Austin Curry made three saves for Bentworth.
• Logan Brinsky and Bryce Gabelhart scored first-half goals as Peters Township defeated Baldwin 4-0 in a Section 2-AAAA match.
Brinsky added another goal in the second half, while Tyler Opferman also iced the shutout victory for P-T (6-0, 9-0-1).
The Indians defense was led by Kyle McFerran.
• Logan Mowl and Mason Pendergast each scored two goals, and Logan Errett assisted on a pair as Trinity moved above the .500 mark with a 7-3 victory over Albert Gallatin in Section 3-AAA at Hiller Field.
Trinity (3-3, 5-4) pulled away late by scoring the final three goals of the match. Italo Deluca, Elijah Cincinnati and Elliott Salvatori each scored for Trinity. AG (1-5, 2-7-1) had three different goal scorers.
• Connor Ry and Chris Lloyd scored goals early in the second half and Upper St. Clair held off Canon-McMillan 2-1 in Section 2-AAAA.
The goals for USC (4-2, 4-4-1) came after a scoreless first half. Canon-McMillan’s Austin McColpin scored with 15 minutes remaining to pull the Big Macs (3-3, 6-3) with within 2-1.
