High school softball: Sinn’s 12 strikeouts lead Carmichaels over J-M
Carmichaels hit seven doubles as a team to defeat Jefferson-Morgan, 6-1, in a Section 2 Class A game.
Mikes’ starting pitcher Kylie Sinn went all seven innings and struck out 12. Megan Walker hit a pair of doubles for Carmichaels (4-2, 6-4).
Autumn Gustovich had a double Jefferson-Morgan (0-4, 1-4).
West Mifflin 7, South Fayette 2: West Mifflin used a 14-hit attack to take a 7-2 victory from South Fayette in Section 2 of Class 4A.
Lauren Yuhas double, tripled and scored twice for West Mifflin (4-3, 6-4). Jaden Arcuri went 3-for-4 withe a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
Ashley Micholas and Lauren Bernett each drove in a run for the Lions (1-4, 3-6).
Trinity 10, Laurel Highlands 0: Marlaina Bozek went 4-for-4, scored 4 runs and drove in 2 to pace Trinity to a 10-0 victory over Laurel Highlands in a Section 2 game in Class 5A.
Kylie Poland and Emma Morgan combined on a one-hitter as Poland got the win and also hit a double. Payton Barr doubled for the Hillers (4-2, 8-4) and Bailey Bell hit the first pitch of a game for a home run.
Monessen 18, Avella 0: Monessen scored 11 runs in the first inning and seven in the second to defeat Avella, 18-0, in a Section 2 game in Class A.
The Greyhounds were paced by cleanup hitter Mattie Telegraphis, who went 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs and seven RBI.
Dana Vatakis earned the victory in the circle with eight strikeouts.
Canon-McMillan 10, Brashear 0: Erica Haught and Katelyn Greaves each went 2-for-4 to lead Canon-McMillan to a 10-0 victory over Section 1 Class 6A foe Brashear to remain undefeated.
The Big Macs (3-0, 4-0) had 14 hits as a team before they ended the game in the sixth inning after scoring their 10th run.
Abi Michelucci and Lauren Drake combined to pitch a two-hitter for C-M, each allowing one hit.
Brashear is 0-4 in section and 0-5 overall.
