Waynesburg stops Burrell wrestlers on criteria

Few teams in the WPIAL wrestling circles can boast a victory over Burrell.

That’s what made Friday night so special for Waynesburg.

Despite forfeiting two weight classes, the Raiders edged Burrell, 34-33, on criteria (bout wins) in a nonsection affair.

Cole Homet (120) and Colby Morris (160) had pins for the Raiders. Ryan Gaul (132) and Anthony Corrado (138) had back-to-back pins for the Bucs, who are looking for their 13th WPIAL Team Tournament title.

Waynesburg won the final two bouts of the match to give them an 8-6 edge in wins.
