New Arizona coach Steve Wilks says Cardinals standout wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has told him he’ll return for a 15th NFL season.

Wilks made the comment Thursday in an interview on the “Doug &Wolf” sports talk radio show. Wilks says Fitzgerald told him of his decision in a conversation Wednesday night.

Fitzgerald hasn’t said publicly whether he would remain for another season and there was speculation he might follow the lead of coach Bruce Arians and quarterback Carson Palmer, who both retired after last season.

The 34-year-old Fitzgerald is one of the most prolific receivers in the game’s history, ranking third on the NFL career lists for receptions and yards receiving. He finished second in the NFL with 109 catches last season.

Janikowski out in Oakland: Kicker Sebastian Janikowski’s career with the Oakland Raiders has ended after 18 seasons.

Owner Mark Davis released a statement Thursday thanking Janikowski for his contributions to the franchise. Janikowski is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent next month and the Raiders told him this week they don’t plan to retain him.

Janikowski is the Raiders all-time leader in games played (268) and points scored (1,799) and his 55 field goals from at least 50 yards are the most in NFL history. Janikowski joined Oakland as a first-round pick in 2000 by late owner Al Davis.

Janikowski spent all of last season on injured reserve with a back injury. Agent Paul Healy, says in an email that Janikowski is too young to retire. He turns 40 March 2.

Giants add coaches: Three experienced coordinators, including two with ties to new general manager Dave Gettleman, have been added to Pat Shurmur’s coaching staff with the New York Giants.

The hirings were announced Thursday, although most had been widely known in recent weeks.

The offensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings, Shurmur was hired Jan. 22 to rebuild the Giants after a disastrous 3-13 season. Coach Ben McAdoo fired in early December after less than two years on the job.

Mike Shula will be the offensive coordinator and work with the quarterbacks. James Bettcher is the defensive coordinator, while Thomas McGaughey will lead the special teams.

Shula and McGaughey worked with Gettleman in Carolina. Both were fired after last season, having served the past five and two years, respectively, as coordinators. Bettcher spent the last five seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, the final three as defensive coordinator.

Also on the staff are receiver coach Tyke Tolbert, offensive line coach Hal Hunter, tight ends coach Lunda Wells, assistant offensive line coach Ben Wilkerson, defensive line coach Gary Emanuel, defensive backs coach Lou Anarumo, assistant defensive backs coach Deshea Townsend, assistant linebackers coach Rob Leonard and special teams coach Anthony Blevins special teams assistant coach.
