Thomas More women win 11th straight PAC basketball title

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Top-seeded and fourth-ranked Thomas More rolled to a 93-51 victory over second-seeded Washington & Jefferson in the title game of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference women’s basketball tournament Saturday afternoon.
The title game matchup was the sixth such meeting since Thomas More entered the league for the 2005-06 season. W&J is the last PAC school to win a title since Thomas More began its current 11-year championship run. Thomas More will be leaving the PAC after the current school year.
The Saints (26-1) finished with three players in double figures. Junior guard Madison Temple, who was voted the league’s Player of the Year, had 32 points and 12 rebounds to lead Thomas More, which 15 three-point field goals. Temple also had six assists.
Abby Owings scored 17 points and Taylor Jolly had 15.
Thomas More took control of the game quickly, building a 30-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Junior forward Danielle Parker led W&J with 18 points and a team-high nine rebounds. She was the only player to score in double figures for the Presidents, who have a 22-5 record with three of the losses coming against Thomas More. Washington & Jefferson rallied in overtime Friday night to beat Saint Vincent in the tournament’s semifinals.
