Canonsburg Sportsmen’s Association and Washington County Sportsmen’s League will be sponsoring a Youth Field Day Saturday, Aug. 4 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be held at Canonsburg Sportmen’s Club at 1115 Allison Hollow Road, Washington. A concealed carry seminar will be held July 14 at the Roscoe Sportsmen’s Association on Sloane Avenue, beginning at 10 a.m. Kim Stolfer, president, Firearms Owners Against Crime; Dr. Michael Hummel, police officer and professor of criminal justice; and a representative of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department will make presentations and answer questions about Pennsylvania’s concealed carry process, the Castle Doctrine and other valuable information regarding firearms safety and state gun laws.
Because of limited seating, individuals should preregister. This is a free seminar and registrations can be made by calling Rep. Bud Cook’s Bentleyville district office at 724-669-2242.
Marianna Field & Stream Club will hold its 29th Annual Kids Cat Fish Derby July 22, from 1 to 3 p.m. Registration fee is $3 per child. The event is open youths ages 4 to 15. Concessions will be available and prizes will be given to all children who participate.
Mingo Rod & Gun Club will hold a fishing derby Saturday, July 14 at Lake Leoni. Prizes will be awarded. A hunter safety course will be held at the clubhouse Aug. 4. Membership meetings are held on the third Sunday of each month, beginning at 3 p.m. The clubhouse is open Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. Shooting ranges are available to members Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to sunset, and Sunday 10 a.m. to sunset. Canonsburg Sportsmen Club’s trap range is open to the public at 6 p.m. every Wednesday. The club’s 3D archery course is open to the public.
