Windy City slams Wild Things
CRESTWOOD, Ill. – Riley Kranes hit a first-inning grand slam and the Windy City ThunderBolts went on to defeat the Wild Things 7-5 Saturday night at Standard Bank Stadium.
Windy City scored five runs — all unearned because of an error — in the first-inning against Washington starter Danny Garmednia (1-1).
The Thunderbolts still led by five runs at 7-2 when Washington mounted a late comeback by scoring three times in the eighth. Roman Collins and Reydel Medina each hit run-scoring doubles and a Hector Roa singled up the middle to score Medina and cut Windy City’s lead to 7-5.
Justin Bohn led off the ninth with a double for Washington but Devin Raferty got the final three outs, two on strikeouts, for his fifth save.
Winning pitcher Will Landsheft (1-1) gave up eight and two walks over seven innings.
