Justin Smoak, Bo Bichette and Jon Berti hit home runs to power the Toronto Blue Jays to a 5-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates in a spring training game Thursday night in Bradenton, Fla.

Toronto overcame an early 3-0 deficit. Bichette’s homer was a two-run shot and came off Pittsburgh closer Felipe Rivera in the seventh inning. It gave the Blue Jays a 4-3 lead. Berti hit his home run in the ninth inning. Pittsburgh closed to within 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single by Adam Frazier but the Pirates stranded runners on second and third.

Pittsburgh starting pitcher Chad Kuhl allowed two runs (one earned) in 5 1/3 innings.

Colin Moran had three hits, scored a run and drove in another for the Pirates.
