McKenna Lampe went 4-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI as West Greene defeated Perry, Ohio, 11-4, in its opening game Friday at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Pioneers were able to support starting pitcher Jade Renner with run support early, scoring seven runs in the first four innings. Much of that came from Lampe, who scored each of the four times she reached base.

West Greene (1-0, 3-1) was also powered by Madison Renner’s three-hit performance, including two doubles. Mackenzie Carpenter went 3-for-4.

In Game 2, against Liverpool, N.Y., the Pioneers lost their first game of the season, 9-1.

The Warriors turned the tables on West Greene’s typical formula for winning, scoring runs in the early innings. Liverpool scored four runs in the first and three more in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead.

Lexi Mooney had a triple for the Pioneers.

Liverpool (1-1) used a pair of triples and a home run from Alicia Nash to build a lead for starting pitcher Jenna Willie, who scattered the Pioneers’ seven hits while striking out five.
