MARS – A.J. Mills scored a goal with 7:51 remaining to break a tie and send top-seeded Seneca Valley to a 3-2 victory over Canon-McMillan in the WPIAL Class 4A boys soccer semifinals Monday night at Mars High School.

The win advances Seneca Valley (16-2-1) to the WPIAL championship match later this week. There is no third-place match in Class 6A, so Canon-McMillan’s season comes to an end with a 16-3 record. The Big Macs had their eight-game winning streak snapped.

Canon-McMillan twice erased one-goal deficits, the last time on Austin McColpin’s goal with 16 minutes remaining.

After Seneca Valley took a 1-0 lead, C-M’s Tommy Samosky tied it with 17:54 left in the first half. Samosky scored his eighth goal of the season, off a header, and following a corner kick by Luke Gladden.

The Raiders forged a 2-1 lead on a goal by Jackson Lotus early in the second half, but McColpin’s goal following a throw-in made it 2-2. Seneca Valley would score the game-winner less than 10 minutes later.
