Soccer roundup: Beth-Center’s Urbine reaches 50 career goals

Sydney Urbine scored four goals, giving her 50 career tallies, as Beth-Center blanked host Albert Gallatin 5-0 Thursday in a non-section match.

Allison Dobrinski scored the other goal for Beth-Center (3-4) and goalkeeper Mikayla Knalis kept AG (0-8) winless.

• Section 2-A leader Bentworth rolled to a 7-0 victory over host McGuffey behind three-goal performances by both Paige Marshalek and Jocelyn Timlin.

Rori Schreiber had the other goal for Bentworth, which improved to 5-0 in the section and 7-1 overall. The Bearcats have won three in a row.

“I was happy with today. We were patient and moved the ball well,” said Bentworth coach Tyler Hamstra. “Our midfield of Lindsay Davis, Caroline Rice and Caitlin Marton really controlled the game. It was nice to see us play with a little more possession and connect passers. Our midfielders don’t always get the credit they deserve.”

McGuffey is 1-2, 1-3.

• Izzy Laurita and Jill Butchki each scored two goals as Belle Vernon defeated Ringgold 4-1.

Laurita and Butchki each tallied a goal in each half and Belle vernon (5-0, 6-1) led 2-0 at halftime.

Boys results

Cameron Frolo scored five goals as Monessen cruised to its third consecutive victory, 8-2 over California in Section 4-A.

Morgan Madison, Jeremiah Quattro and Zach Evans each tallied a goal for the Greyhounds (3-1-1, 4-1-2). Nathan Lynch made six saves and Jack Sacoo three.

California is 0-6, 0-8.

• Chad Eldridge, Colin Martincic and Gavin Eldridge each scored a goal as South Fayette blanked Chartiers valley 3-0 in Section 4-AAA. It is the second consecutive shutout victory for the Lions (3-2, 4-4).

South Fayette goalkeeper Dan Rodgers made five saves.

• Elijah Cincinnati finished with a hat trick to lead Trinity over Uniontown, 7-1, in a Section 3-AAA match.

Mason Pendergast scored two goals for Trinity (2-4, 4-5). Austin Aber and Max Eichelberger each had a goal for the Hillers.

Clay Berkibile scored the only goal for Uniontown (0-7, 2-9).

• Belle Vernon did all of its damage in the first half, scoring six goals to defeat Albert Gallatin, 6-0, in a Section 3-AAA match.

Markello Apodiakos scored three goals for the Leopards, who have won seven of their last eight matches. Aaron Brown scored two goals and Jojo Schwerha added another for Belle Vernon (5-1-1, 8-1-1).

Albert Gallatin falls to 1-5 in section play and 3-6 overall.

• Four different players found the score sheet as Waynesburg shut out Brownsville, 5-0, in Section 3-AA.

Gavin Benson led the Raiders with a pair of goals. Dalton Woods, Jack Church and Jared Hogue also scored for Waynesburg (5-1, 7-2).

Brownsville drops to 2-4 in section play and 3-5 overall.

• Cullin Woytovich broke a program record for goals in a single game as Charleroi dominated Washington, 16-0, in a Section 3-AA match to remain undefeated.

Woytovich had six goals for Charleroi (6-0, 7-0).

The Cougars have scored 29 goals in their last two matches.

Washington falls to 0-6 in section play and 0-7 overall.
