Defense delivers again for Burgettstown
McKEESPORT — Jake Lounder threw a touchdown pass to Austin Ryan in the first quarter and ran for two short scores in the fourth quarter as Burgettstown remained undefeated with a 24-0 victory over Serra Catholic in the Three Rivers Conference Friday night.
The Blue Devils, who have the stingiest defense in Class 2A, improved to 4-0 in the conference and 5-0 overall. Serra slipped to 1-2, 3-3.
The Blue Devils scored the only points they would need in the first quarter when Lounder hooked up with Ryan for a 49-yard TD pass. Seth Phillis gave Burgettstown a 10-0 lead when he ended the first half with an 18-yard field goal.
The score remained 10-0 until Lounder scored on a 1-yard plunge on the first play of the fourth quarter. His three-yard TD run capped the scoring.
