High school softball: Renner sets West Greene wins record
Jade Renner became the winningest pitcher in West Greene history in a 15-0, three-inning win over Monessen in a Section 2-A game Wednesday. Renner won her 40th game, one more than Rachel Burns did before graduating in 2009.
West Greene improved to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in Section 2-A. McKenna Lampe was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Kaitlyn Rizor went 2-for-2, scored 3 runs and belted a triple with 2 RBI. Renner went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Katie Lampe scored 3 runs in the courtesy runner spot. Mackenzie Carpenter added a triple, and Kiley Meek went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.
Hannah Yorty took the loss for Monessen, striking out 4, and had the lone Monessen hit, a triple to lead off the bottom of the first.
Washington 16, Avella 6:
Washington scored 14 runs over the final three innings of a 16-6 six-inning win over Avella in a non-section game.
Sheridan Johnson homered and Kiersten Wormsley and Unique Livingston doubled for the Prexies (1-2).
Jessica Bauer doubled for Avella (0-2).
