High school softball roundup: Waynesburg rallies in last inning for win

Waynesburg scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning – all with two outs – to rally and stun host Steel Valley 4-3 in Class 3A Section 3 Monday.
Steel Valley (1-3, 1-6) tied the score with a run in the fifth inning and took a 3-1 lead with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Waynesburg (1-2, 4-3), however, was unfazed as the Raiders tied the score in the seventh on a two-out, two-run double by Erin Fitch. She would score the game-winning run one batter later when Rachel Elsenheimer ripped a triple to left field.
Winning pitcher Meghan Braun struck out six and did not walk a batter. Kylee Goodman had a double for the Raiders and Jordan Sibert had three singles.
Charleroi 10, Beth-Center 0: Kylie Quigley fired her second no-hitter of the season in Charleroi’s 10-0 five-inning victory over visiting Beth-Center in Class 2A Section 3.
Quigley struck out five and walked five as Charleroi (1-3, 3-3) won for the first time in section play.
Taylor Boyd, Sarah Kondratik, Jocelyn Polonoli and Katie Reed each contributed a double for the Cougars’ 10-hit attack.
Beth-Center remained winless at 0-4, both in section and overall.
Chartiers-Houston 12, Carmichaels 7: Kasey Scears homered twice and drove in five runs to help Chartiers-Houston outslug Carmichaels, 12-7, in a Section 3-AA game.
Bella Hess singled, drove in two runs and scored twice for the Bucs (4-0, 8-1). Ella Brookman went 2-for-3 with and RBI and run thanks to a triple. Lauren Lober doubled and scored twice and also drove in a run. Kkaci Alderson went 2-for-3 withe a double, RBI and run.
Kylie Sinn hit a solo home run for the Mikes (3-2, 4-3) and Mia Ranieri had a two-run home run. Madison Ellsworth had two hits, including a double, two RBI and scored twice. Gina Ranieri doubled and scored a run.
The Mikes took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first but C-H countered with five runs in the bottom of the inning. C-H made it 8-3 in the fourth and 10-4 in the fifth before the Mikes scored three in the top of the seventh.
Montour 15, Trinity 14: Montour scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh and 10 combined over the last three innings to rally to beat Trinity, 15-14, in Section 3 of Class 5A.
The Spartans (4-1, 4-3) rallied from deficits of 9-5 after four innings and 13-7 after 5 1/2 innings.
Angelena LaMarca doubled, homered, drove in four and scored four times for Montour. Abigail McClean went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run and Izzi Mannino knocked in a pair and scored once.
Bailey Bell homered twice and drove in six runs for the Hillers (2-1, 5-2) and Kylie Poland hit a single, two home runs and drove in five runs. Bayleigh McCullough went 2-for-4 with three runs and Marlaina Bozek doubled twice, singled, scored a run and drove in a run. Alyssa Rager went 3-for-5 with an RBI and Cam Meier went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.
South Fayette 12, Western Beaver 1: Mara Iagnemma fired a three-hitter and South Fayette pounded out six extra-base hits en route to a 12-1 victory over Western Beaver in a six-inning Class 5A Section 3 game.
Iagnemma struck out 11, did not issue a walk and allowed one unearned run.
Lauren Bernett led the Lions at the plate with a double, triple and three RBI. Ashley Micholas and Lexi Yates each hit a home run, Madison Potteiger tripled and Allya Schraeder doubled.
The Lions (2-2, 5-4) have won three in a row. Western Beaver (0-5, 0-6) remains winless.
Peters Township 15, Allderdice 0: Peters Township scored eight runs in the first inning and went on to a 15-0 victory over Allderdice in Class 6A Section 1.
The win pushed PT (3-2, 5-4) above the .500 mark. Winning pitcher Kate Hondru hit two doubles and drove in two runs. Alex Bondi and Amber Wilkes each doubled and Katelyn Stokan went 3-for-3.
West Mifflin 17, Ringgold 3: Lauren Yuhas, West Mifflin’s leadoff hitter, went 4-for-4, scored three runs and drive in five as the Titans cruised to a 17-3 victory over visiting Ringgold in a four-inning Class 4A Section 2.
West Mifflin (4-1, 9-1) trailed 1-0 in the second inning before scoring times in the second and adding five runs in both the third and fourth innings.
Alyssa Schmidt was 3-for-3 with a home runs and three RBI for the Titans.
Aswhlee Selembo doubled for Ringgold (1-3, 1-4).
Frazier 15, McGuffey 0: Logan Hartman threw a two-hit shutout, Savannah Berklovich hit a two-run homer and Frazier blanked McGuffey 15-0 in four innings in Class 2A Section 3.
Hartman struck out eight and walked two. Emi Curcio was 3-for-3 with a triple and two doubles to lead the Commodores (4-1, 6-1) at the plate. Since losing a section game to Chartiers-Houston, Frazier has gone 4-0 and outscored its opponents 58-0.
Clara Barr hit a double for McGuffey (1-2, 1-3).
