Ryan Sullivan threw a no-hitter as McGuffey edged Charleroi, 1-0, in a Class 3A Section 3 game.
Sullivan struck out six batters in his seven hitless innings.
McGuffey (6-1, 7-3) broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning when Luke Wagner singled home Chad Fleischauer. It was an unearned run.
The third consecutive win for the Highlanders moves them into a first-place tie with Keystone Oaks.
Charleroi falls to 3-5 in the section and 5-7 overall.
Beth-Center 9, Washington 2: Anthony Dellapenna struck out eight for a complete-game victory as Beth-Center defeated Washington, 9-2, in Class 3A Section 3 game.
Dellapenna allowed six hits and only two runs, both in the seventh inning. He also tripled.
Beth-Center (6-2, 6-6) scored five runs in the second inning. The Bulldogs took advantage of five Prexies’ errors.
Cooper Sharp hit a two-run triple in the seventh for Washington (0-7, 2-10).
Ringgold 9, West Mifflin 0: Ringgold used three different pitchers to shut out West Mifflin 9-0 in a Class 4A Section 3 game.
Josh Peters and Kevin Feld each went three innings for the Rams. Gage Fuller finished the shutout by pitching seventh inning. Peters earned the win.
Travis Drusbasky had three hits and scored twice for Ringgold (8-1, 9-3), which has won six consecutive games.
West Mifflin falls to 1-8 in the section and 1-10 overall.
Canon-McMillan 1, Mt. Lebanon 0: Cam Weston outdueled Cameron Knox in Canon-McMillan’s 1-0 victory over Mt. Lebanon in a Section 3 game in Class 6A.
Weston struck out 10 and did not walk a batter over seven innings and 97 pitches. Knox also went seven innings, striking out 12 and walking one.
The Big Macs (4-4, 8-6) scored the run in the fourth inning. Cam Walker led off with a single and Weston got on via a fielder’d choice. Weston gave way to courtesy runner Chase Chambers, who went third on a single by Noah Burke and scored on a balk.
Mt. Lebanon fell to 3-4 and 7-8.
California 10, West Greene 0, 5 inn.: The California Trojans defeated West Greene 10-0 in a five-inning Section 2-A game.
Jacob Swartz picked up the win, striking out five while only throwing 48 pitches. Connor Vig, Jordan Kearns, and Matt Trunzo each collected two hits for the Trojans. Brody Conner added a 2 run double to seal the victory.
Softball
South Fayette 12, Chartiers Valley 2, 5 inn: Madison Poiteiger tripled, homered, drove in three runs and scored three time in South Fayette’s 12-2 victory over Chartiers Valley in a Section 3 game in Class 5A.
Mia Ely and Aliya Schraeder each hit a double. Schraeder knocked in two runs and scored twice for the Lions (5-4, 8-6).
Jenna Bonneysteele doubled for CV (2-8, 2-9).
Frazier 10, Beth-Center 0, 5 inn.: Logan Hartman limited Beth-Center to one hit over five inning in Frazier’s 10-0 victory in Section 3-AA.
Hartman struckk out 12 and did not walk a batter. Rylee Evans hit a solo home run and Hartman tripled, drove in two and scored three times for Frazier (8-2, 10-2)
Beth-Center is 0-9 and 0-9.
Peters Township 5, Mt. Lebanon 1: Mirjana Hutnik had three of Peters Township’s 10 hits as the Indians defeated Mt. Lebanon, 5-1, in a Class 6A Section 1.
Chloe Paugh drove in a pair of runs for Peters Township (6-5, 8-7), which scored four runs in the first inning.
The win ends a two-game losing skid for the Indians.
Mt. Lebanon falls to 3-8 in the section and overall.
