Seton Hill women upset Cal

Megan Marecic scored a game-high 30 points and Seton Hill surged in the second half to upset California University, 73-60, in a PSAC West Conference game in Greensburg.

The loss sends the Vulcans to 22-4 overall and 16-4 in the conference. Seton Hill moved to 17-10 overall and 11-9 in the PSAC.

Marecic scored 22 of her 30 points in the second half, when Seton Hill outscored Cal, 52-30.

Cheyenne Trest, a Canon-McMillan graduate, scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Marecic also had a double-double with the 30 points and 14 rebounds.

Seairra Barrett led Cal with 20 points and 14 rebounds and Abby Sporio had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Cal led 32-20 at halftime but was outscored, 29-14, in the third quarter and 23-16 in the fourth.

Wash & Jeff 89, Penn State Altoona 59: The Washington & Jefferson women’s basketball team scored 50 second half points to roll to an 89-59 victory over Penn State Altoona in the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship Tournament.

The win improves W&J to 20-8. This marks the 12th time in 15 seasons that head coach Jina DeRubbo has reached the 20-win plateau with the Presidents. The victory also gives Coach DeRubbo her 299th win during her time with W&J.

Five players finished in double figures in one of the best offensive showings of the season for W&J. Sophomore forward Alie Seto led all scorers with 21 points while adding five rebounds and three steals.

Senior forward Danielle Parker, a graduate of Canon-McMillan, had her eighth double-double of the season and 22nd of her career, finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Sophomore forward Maria Lawhorne just missed a double-double of her own, registering with 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench.

Men’s Results

California 89, Seton Hill 76: Three players combined for 76 points as Cal dropped Seton Hill, 89-76, in a PSAC West Conference game in Greensburg.

The win improved the Vulcans to 8-18 overall and 6-14 in the conference. Seton Hill fell to 9-17 overall and 7-13 in the PSAC.

Brent Pegram led the way for Cal with 33 points. Collin McAdams followed with 22 and Zyan Collins added 21. Donte Williams was in double figures with 10.

Trevor Blondin scored 27 and Nathan Davis added 21.
