Forecast sparks schedule changes

With a winter storm expected to hit the area this weekend, and following Gov. Tom Wolf’s state of emergency declaration for Pennsylvania, many sports schedules have been altered.

The California University men’s and women’s basketball games against Seton Hill, originally scheduled for today, have been postponed and rescheduled for Monday at the Convocation Center. The Cal women, ranked No. 15 in NCAA Division II, will play at 1 p.m. followed by the men’s game.

The Washington & Jefferson men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader at Saint Vincent that figures prominently in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference standings also has been rescheduled for Monday. Saint Vincent and W&J are 1-2 in both the PAC men’s and women’s standings. The women’s game will be begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men’s contest.

The undefeated Peters Township girls basketball team was to play at North Catholic today but that game has been pushed back to Jan. 26.

The boys basketball game between Washington and Waynesburg, which was scheduled for Monday, has been postponed. No makeup date has been announced.
