Boys Soccer MVP – Markello Apodiakos
Markello Apodiakos has been the pivotal player in the rise of Belle Vernon boys soccer. With Apodiakos at forward, the Leopards have become one of the highest-scoring teams in the WPIAL and an annual playoff qualifier. Apodiakos scored 27 goals and had 12 assists this season to help Belle Vernon (12-6-1) to the Class AAA playoffs. A Duquesne recruit, Apodiakos holds school records for goals in a game (five) and season (37), and points in a game (11) and season (83). He scored 89 career goals. Apodiakos was named to the United States Soccer Coaches All-Region team this season and was twice selected to the Pennsylvania State Soccer Coaches Association All-State team. Apodiakos was one of only three boys players from the WPIAL to be finalists for the national High School All-American games.
