Girls Basketball MVP – Makenna Marisa

Considered one of the most polished, complete players to come out of Western Pennsylvania, Makenna Marisa used her senior season as a final curtain call. What an encore it turned out to be. The Penn State recruit led Peters Township as the Indians became the first girls high school basketball team from Washington County to win a state championship. In the process, Marisa was the catalyst as the Indians became one of five teams in WPIAL history to win PIAA gold with a perfect record (30-0). In the 30 wins, Marisa averaged 20.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists. Her consistency might have been the most impressive part. Marisa scored in double figures in 29 of those 30 games, including a memorable performance in the PIAA Class 6A championship game when she scored 29 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had seven assists in a 62-49 win over Garnet Valley that completed the perfect season. She finished with 1,720 career points.
