Wild Things win rain-shortened game

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Washington unleashed a season-high 20 hits and cruised to a 13-7 victory over the Evansville Otters in a Frontier League game shortened to eight innings because of rain Wednesday night at Bosse Field.
The Wild Things scored seven runs over the first two innings and and had three-run innings in both the seventh and eighth.
The game was stopped after the eighth inning because of rain. Following a delay of 25 minutes, the game was ended.
John Havird (1-1) pitched six strong innings for the win. He gave up five hits and two runs.
The 20 hits by Washington was the most by a Frontier League team this season. Every Wild Things starter had at least one hit and eight different players contributed an RBI. Wander Franco, Shaine Hughes, J.J. Fernandez and Cody Erickson each had three hits. Erickson also had a team-high three RBI.
