In wrestling

The Washington & Jefferson College wrestling team opened the 2019-20 season by competing at the Lycoming College Invitational in Williamsport.

No team scoring results were compiled at the season-opening event. The event was broken into two separate brackets, with juniors/seniors competing in one bracket and freshmen/sophomores competing in the other. Six Presidents went undefeated on the day as the Red and Black posted several strong performances.

Leading the way was senior Hunter Neely, who entered the day ranked 10th at 157 pounds in d3wrestle.com’s initial rankings.

Neely started his day with a 6-5 win by decision over Robert Duxbury of Delaware Valley. Neely then posted an impressive showing with a win by major decision 12-3 over Trevor Corl from Lycoming.

Corl came in to the day ranked just ahead of Neely at No. 9 on the d3wrestle.com 157-pound rankings. Neely then added a win by tech. fall 22-6 over Josiah McClarren of Lycoming.

In the NBA

Duncan Robinson scored 23 points, Meyers Leonard added 21 and the Miami Heat led by 41 points on the way to a 129-100 victory over the Houston Rockets on Sunday night.

  • De’Aaron Fox scored 24 points, Buddy Hield had 22 and Sacramento beat New York for its second straight victory following an 0-5 start.

Harrison Barnes added 19 points, and Richaun Holmes had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
