The Pirates split their team into two separate groups and suffered two separate losses Sunday in Grapefruit League action.

As the home team at LECOM Park in Bradenton, the Pirates fell to the Detroit Tigers 8-4. Derek Holland got the start and allowed a home run to Jacob Jones. He quickly settled down and struck out the next three Detroit batters.

The Pirates lost the other game, 4-3, to Philadelphia as Trevor Williams gave up four runs, including 3 hits, a hit by pitch and a walk.
