South Fayette has no problem rolling past Dover
DOVER, Ohio — South Fayette may have traveled a couple hours by bus, but the Lions wasted little time exploding for 21 first-quarter points en route to a 42-14 season-opening victory Friday.
Quarterback Nathan Alemada completed 14 of 19 passes for 224 yards, four touchdowns and one interception to lead the Lions’ offensive attack, while Shay Aitken rushed for 178 yards and one touchdown on 13 carries and wide receiver Charley Rossi caught six passes for 74 yards.
Aitken opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown run with 9:12 left in the first quarter before Ryan McGuire hauled in touchdown passes of 12 and 52 yards to give South Fayette a lead it would never relinquish.
Joey Audia and Tristan Bedillion caught third-quarter touchdown passes before Nate Deanes added a two-yard touchdown run to close out the Lions’ scoring in the fourth quarter.
Dover quarterback Ayden Hall completed 15 of 22 passes for 131 yards and one interception, while Jacob Hostetler and Connor McGarry added touchdown runs.
