Orlosky tops 1,000 points in Jackets win

Waynesburg senior guard Andrea Orlosky scored her 1,000th career point on a fourth-quarter jumper to become the 12th woman in Yellow Jacket history to reach the milestone against Thiel Saturday afternoon. The former All-PAC performer paced all scorers with 18 points to lead the Yellow Jackets to their first win of the season on senior day by a score of 64-47.

Orlosky, who leads the PAC in rebounding, also had a game-high 10 boards for a double-double and tied for the team lead in assists (five).

Junior forward Brooke Fuller and freshman guard Avery Robinson both had double-digit points with 12 and 11, respectively. Fuller also finished with eight rebounds and four blocks, while Robinson tied for the team lead with five assists.

Senior guard Elena McDermott tied her career high with seven rebounds, and added six points and two assists over 38 minutes of action.

Men’s Results

Thiel 73, Waynesburg 62: The Waynesburg University men’s basketball traveled to Thiel to try and grab its fourth win in five games Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets battled back from multiple deficits to keep it a one-score game part-way into the second half. Ultimately the Tomcats pulled away for a 73-62 win.

Junior guard Matt Popeck had his most productive game of the season while making his first start of the year. The two-time All-PAC performer dropped a game-high 25 points on nine-of-22 shooting from the field. He also tied for the team lead in rebounds (six) and steals (two).
