South Side Beaver blanks Monessen

HOOKSTOWN — Monessen hung tough with top-seed South Side Beaver in the first quarter, but the home team pulled away in a 39-0 victory in the first round of the WPIAL Class A football playoffs.

The Greyhounds trailed 6-0 after the first quarter, but South Side Beaver (11-0) scored 20 points in the second quarter. Ryan Navarra scored three touchdowns runs.

Monessen’s season ends at 4-7.
