PLUM — Tyree Turner threw two touchdown passes to Samir Crosby and also ran for a score, leading Greensburg Central Catholic to a 41-22 victory over West Greene in a WPIAL Class A first-round playoff game Friday night at Plum High School.

Turner threw TD passes of 52 and 60 yards to Crosby and connected with Aidan Allison on a 79-yard scoring pass. Turner also had a 26-yard touchdown run.

Turner completed seven of 10 passes for 249 yards and the three touchdowns. He also rushed for 108 yards.

Crosby opened the scoring with a nine-yard TD run in the first quarter. The Centurions (8-3) led 6-0 after one quarter, 20-0 at halftime and 27-0 early in the third quarter.

West Greene (8-3) did all of its scoring in the second half, getting three touchdowns from Billy Whitlatch, including one on special teams. Whitlatch had TD runs of one and 10 yards. He also took a lateral from Seth Burns on a kickoff and raced 98 yards for another score.

Whitlatch rushed for 190 yards on 28 carries. West Greene quarterback Lane Allison completed eight of 15 passes for 125 yards.

It was GCC’s second win of the season over West Greene. The Centurions won a regular-season game played in Rogersville in early September.
