The Wild Things made their first significant roster move of the offseason Tuesday when they traded pitcher Justin Showalter to the Ottawa Titans in exchange for right-handed pitcher Nick MacDonald.

Showalter played two seasons in Washington after being signed out of James Madison University. This year, Showalter had a 7-5 record and 5.54 ERA over 24 games (12 starts). His 92.2 innings pitched were the second-most by a Wild Things pitcher.

In two seasons with Washington, Showalter had an 11-6 record.

MacDonald pitched in 25 games this year, including two starts. He had a 5-3 record, one save and a 7.17 ERA. He struck out 34 and walked 21 in 47.2 innings.

MacDonald was a 23rd round draft pick of the New York Mets in 2019 out of Florida International and played three seasons in the minor leagues before being released.

Washington made its first roster move of the season late last week when it acquired McLain Harris from the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League to complete a trade that had sent infielder Tyler Wilbur to Billings last offseason. Harris had a 3-7 record and 5.51 ERA in 28 appearances (4 starts) this summer. He issued only 13 walks in 65.1 innings.
