Laux throws for 3 TDs in Leps’ triumph

BELLE VERNON — Braden Laux threw three touchdown passes in leading Belle Vernon to a 53-7 victory over Greensburg Salem on Friday in Class 3A Interstate Conference play at James Weir Stadium.

The Leopards (2-0, 5-1) built a 47-0 lead in the second quarter before the Golden Lions (0-2, 1-6) got on the scoreboard. 

Laux’s scoring strikes were to Quinton Martin (13 yards), Adam LaCarte (16 yards) and Anthony Crews (34 yards). Martin also scored on a 7-yard run for Belle Vernon’s first points. 

Kole Doppelheuer scored on touchdown runs of 5 and 28 yards. 

Preston Rathaway kicked a 33-yard field goal and the Leopards had a team safety in the first quarter.

Chase Mertz found the end zone on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Dom Rosensteel pulled in a 35-yard touchdown reception from Peyton Chismar for Greensburg Salem’s lone touchdown.
