Wild Things release 2024 schedule
For only the second time since 2016, the Wild Things will open the Frontier League season at home when they begin play next year.
The league released its 2024 schedule Tuesday and the Wild Things will start the season at home with a three-game series against the Schaumburg Boomers May 10-12.
The season will run through Sunday, Sept. 1.
The Frontier League will again have two eight-team divisions with each team playing a 96-game schedule. However, the travel has been scaled back. Each team will play four series (two at home and two away) against the other teams in its division. In addition, each team will have 12 games (six at home, six on the road) against the opposite division.
After the season-opening series against Schaumburg, Washington’s first road trip, May 14-19, will be against two teams from the East Division. The Wild Things will be the first opponent to play at the Frontier League’s newest team, located in Brockton, Mass., then they will play three games at Tri-City. It will be Washington’s only trip East. The Wild Things will not play the league’s three Canadian teams and the New Jersey Jackals during the regular season.
The only East Division teams that will play at Wild Things Park will be the New York Boulders (July 26-28) and the Sussex County Miners (Aug. 2-4).
The Wild Things will play 15 of 18 games on the road from June 11 through June 30. They will make two trips to Gateway and two to Schaumburg during that stretch. The three home games (June 18-20) are against Gateway.
The longest homestand is a nine-gamer (July 2-11) against Florence, Windy City and Evansville.
The Wild Things will play at home on one holiday, July 4, against Florence.
