Girls soccer: Brose scores 2 in Chartiers-Houston win

Sophomore Amelia Brose scored two goals and Chartiers-Houston defeated visiting Bentworth 3-1 in Class A Section 2 on Wednesday night.

The loss eliminated Bentworth (4-6-1, 7-7-1) from playoff contention. Chartiers-Houston is in second place in the section at 9-3 and 13-3 overall.

Brose scored both of her goals in the first half, one off a deflection. Bentworth closed to within 2-1 with 19:59 left in the game on a goal by Cassidy Sicchitano, but C-H’s Ava Capozzoli clinched the win with a late tally.

Belle Vernon rolled to a 5-0 victory over Uniontown in Class 3A Section 2.

The Leopards (6-6-1, 7-8-1), who have won three straight, received goals from five different players: Kelsey Roskovich, Abby Russell, Grace West, Chessa Mertz and Payton Walsh. West also had two assists.

South Fayette was a 6-0 winner over Trinity in a Class 3A Section 4 contest at Hiller Field.
