Avella suffers conference setback to OLSH
AVELLA — Avella hung tough and cut the deficit to seven in the fourth quarter, but Our Lady of Sacred Heart (OLSH) pulled out a 29-16 win Friday in Class A Black Hills Conference action.
The Eagles’ Isaiah Bradick scored on a 1-yard run and ran in the two-point conversion to cut Avella’s deficit to 23-16 with 5:21 remaining, but OLSH responded with a scoring drive that was capped off by Brandon Brazell’s 15-yard run with 1:46 left.
Brazell also scored on a 4-yard run in the second quarter to give his team a 7-0 lead after Patrick Altmar connected on the first of two PATs.
The Eagles (1-4, 3-5) took a one-point lead with 2:24 left before halftime after Charles Rush pulled in a 9-yard touchdown reception from Cole Jaworowski and Nate Rankin caught the two-point conversion for an 8-7 advantage.
OLSH scored three seconds before halftime on Talen Ellis’ 7-yard reception from Brazell.
Ethan Gardner scored on a 5-yard run in the third and Altmar kicked a 24-yard field goal in the fourth.
