Fort Cherry beats Carlynton to clinch conference title

CARNEGIE — Fort Cherry didn’t score in bunches, but gradually built up its lead in a 42-0 victory at Carlynton in Class A Black Hills Conference play Friday night at Carlynton.

The Rangers improved to 6-0 in the conference and 9-0 overall. Fort Cherry clinched a share of the conference title, and can win it outright next week when Burgettstown (4-2, 5-3) comes to town.

Matt Sieg and Shane Cornali scored on punt returns for touchdowns, and Seig ran 70 yards for a score. He threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Cornali with 40 seconds remaining in the first half for a 21-0 lead after Nik Massey connected of the third of six PATs.

Ethan Faletto scored the first and last touchdown for the Rangers, and rushed for 103 yards on 10 carries. Sieg gained 135 yards on 7 attempts.

Lou Ryan led Fort Cherry in tackles with 14. Teammate Braydon Kirby had 10.
