Case Western shuts out Waynesburg

Case Western Reserve University rushed for nearly 250 yards and its defense shut down Waynesburg University in a 35-0 victory Saturday afternoon in Presidents’ Athletic Conference football action in Cleveland.

Gage Duesler opened the scoring with a 37-yard run and Gabriel Petrozzi converted on the first of five PATs for a 7-0 lead with 4:24 left in the first quarter.

Following Riley Knurek’s 11-yard touchdown reception, Duesler raced 63 yards into the end zone for a 21-0 lead 16 seconds into the third quarter. Duesler ran for 131 yards on 10 carries.

Alex Fromberg scored on a 1-yard run and Christopher Lim found the end zone from two yards out. Fromberg was 18 of 27 for 231 yards with a touchdown pass to Knurek.

The Yellow Jackets’ Isaac Trout caught six passes for 52 yards and Charleroi graduate Dakota Romantino pulled in 5 receptions for 42 yards.

Waynesburg fell to 1-6 in conference and overall play, while Case Western improved to 6-1 in conference and overall action.
