Slippery Rocks pulls away from Cal in 2nd half

California had a six-point lead in the second quarter, but Slippery Rock scored five straight touchdowns to pull away in the second half for a 41-21 victory Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference football action at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
Davis Black scored his second of three touchdown runs with 6:26 of the second quarter for a 13-7 lead for the Vulcans before the Rock (5-0, 8-0) started its run.
Chris D’Or scored on a six-yard run and Kevin Roberts made the second of six PATs for a 14-13 advantage that Slippery Rock took into the locker room.
Brayden Long scored on a 1-yard run with 9:27 left in the third quarter and Jalen Dangerfield returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown and Slippery Rock pushed its lead to 28-13 with 6:06 remaining in the period. Isaiah Edwards’ 35-yard touchdown run closed the scoring in the third quarter.
Khalid Dorsey closed the scoring for the Rock on a 63-yard run with 14 minutes remaining.
Black scored on a 4-yard run and threw a two-point conversion pass to Demonte Martin.
Long was 21 of 35 for 299 yards and two touchdowns. Dorsey gained 100 yards on 8 carries and D’Or was just shy of 100 with 95 yards on 11 attempts.
California dropped to 4-1 in the conference and 5-2 overall.
