Fort Cherry dominates from start to finish
McDONALD — Shane Cornali returned the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and undefeated Fort Cherry never looked back, cruising to a 42-0 victory over Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in a Class A Black Hills Conference game.
Fort Cherry (2-0, 5-0) led 14-0 after one quarter and then broke the game open with a 28-point second quarter.
The Rangers’ Ethan Faletto scored two touchdowns, and Matt Sieg threw for two scores and ran for another.
Bryadon Cook caught a 33-yard TD pass from Sieg that gave the Rangers a 14-0 lead.
Faletto caught a 30-yard TD pass from Sieg and added a five-yard TD run late in the first half. Nate Heirendt had an eight-yard scoring jaunt and Sieg broke free for a 21-yard TD run.
Neither team scored in the second half. Fort Cherry had a second down at the OLSH nine-yard line in the fourth quarter before taking a knee on three consecutive plays.
OLSH saw its record even at 1-1 in the conference and dip to 2-3 overall.
