Presidents roll to another lopsided victory

Washington & Jefferson jumped out to a 35-point lead midway through the second quarter and rolled to a 56-14 victory over Thiel in Presidents’ Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon at Cameron Stadium.
Through four games this season, the President are winning by an average margin of 43.5.
The Presidents’ John Peduzzi caught 5 passes for 96 yards. Three of his five receptions went for touchdowns. Teammate Jacob Pugh was 14-of-19 for 187 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Pugh didn’t throw an interception in his first three games.
Peduzzi opened the scoring on a 29-yard reception from Pugh at 9:08 of the first quarter and Ricky Hunter made the first of eight PATs.
Pugh and Zach Cernuto capped off scoring drives with one yard runs at 6:10 of the first quarter and with 13:45 left in the second quarter a 21-0 lead for W&J (4-0, 4-0).
Peduzzi (28 and 5 yards) pulled in two more touchdown receptions at 11:01 and 5:58 of the second period for a 35-0 advantage.
Donny Pattison got the Tomcats (1-3, 1-3) on the scoreboard with a two-yard run at 1:16 of the second quarter. Preston Lefkowitz made the first of two extra points, and the Presidents took a 35-7 lead into locker room at halftime.
Justin Huss extended the home team’s lead to 42-7 on a 10-yard run at 11:48 of the third quarter before Kobe Derosa pulled in a 14-yard touchdown reception from backup quarterback Kellen Stahl at 8:04 of the period for a 49-7 advantage. Stahl came into the game for Pugh in the second half with W&J holding a commanding lead.
Bentworth graduate Owen Petrisek capped the scoring for the Presidents on an 11-yard run at 4:35 of the third quarter.
Andrew Plowden’s 1-yard run with 14:05 left in the fourth quarter cut the W&J advantage to 56-14.
