Washington Rebels win 1st two games in W.Va. tourney

Burgettstown’s Sam Elich doubled and had three RBI while high school teammate Eric Kovach scored three times in the Washington Rebels’ 9-3 win over US Elite PA West in the first round of the Blazing Hot Summer Classic in Bridgeport, W.Va.

Trinity’s Jackson Burt allowed four hits over six innings for the win. He had five strikeouts.

Washington defeated NexTier, 14-4, in five innings.

Bentworth’s Lucas Burt had three RBI and two hits.

Elich and McGuffey’s Cameron Dames doubled, and Bentworth’s Sam Wade tripled.
