Washington & Jefferson clinched the top spot in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) women’s basketball championships tournament following a 76-61 victory over Allegheny on Saturday at Salvitti Family Gymnasium.

The Presidents (23-2, 19-1) were celebrating senior day, and assured itself at least one more game at home, as W&J will play the winner of Allegheny (13-12, 12-8) and Geneva (12-13, 11-9) on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the PAC tournament semifinals. Washington & Jefferson will host the PAC tournament final if it advances past the semifinals.

The Gators trailed by five entering the fourth quarter, but the Presidents used a 23-13 advantage in the final period to cruise to a comfortable victory.

Sarah Berardelli led W&J in scoring with 17 points. Teammate Meghan Dryburgh chipped in with 15 points. Bryn Bezjak (14) and Jan Wan (13) were also in double figures for the Presidents.

Allegheny’s Emily Lauer had a game-high 24 points.

Waynesburg 91, Thiel 53:

The Yellow Jackets will go into the offseason with a victory after a 91-53 PAC triumph over Thiel at Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.

Waynesburg (6-19, 5-15) had a 30-13 lead after the first quarter and a 50-25 halftime advantage. The Jackets outscored the Tomcats, 20-11, in the third quarter and 21-17 in the final period.

Waynesburg’s Annika Dansby led all scorers with 22 points. Teammate Marley Wolf added 15. Maddy Triskett (12), Kelsey Seddon (10) and Lexy Wagner (10) gave the Yellow Jackets five players in double figures.

Men’s basketball:

Waynesburg 69, Thiel 58:

The Yellow Jackets will have at least one more game at home in the PAC tournament, but assured their seniors a memorable moment in a 69-58 victory on senior day.

Waynesburg (14-11, 11-9) hosts Grove City (13-12, 9-11) on Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the PAC tournament at 7 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets’ Antone Baker scored a game-high 20 points. Jaylen Davis put in 18 and Bryston Wilt dropped 10 for the home team.

The Tomcats’ Elijah Harden and Ethan Barnes scored 16 points apiece.

Washington & Jefferson 96, Allegheny 91:

The Presidents won their season finale in a 96-91 victory over the Gators in PAC action at Salvitti Family Gymnasium.

Nick Gearhart led W&J and the game in scoring with 21 points. Teammate Ryan McCort put in 13 and Nathan Plotner 10.

Ryan Lang paced Allegheny in scoring with 18 points. Preston Turk added 14, and Andre Wilder and Mike Noonan had 12 points apiece. Luke Barker was in double digits with 10.
