Waynesburg rallied from eight down with 2:11 remaining in a 72-69 victory over Bethany College on Saturday afternoon in Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) play at Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.

The Yellow Jackets (6-6, 9-8) went on an 11-0 run to defeat the Bison (6-7, 7-10) on Alumni Day.

Waynesburg’s Antone Baker scored 26 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for his sixth double-double this season.

Jaylen Davis and Jake Scheidt scored 12 points apiece for the home team.

Washington & Jefferson 84, Chatham 70

Alex Acosta scored 25 points in the Presidents’ 84-70 triumph in PAC action.

Washington & Jefferson had a 39-31 lead at halftime and was able to extend its lead in the second half.

Nick Gearhart tallied 18 points for the Presidents, and teammates Matt Seidl (13) and Matthew Carte (12) were also in double figures.

Women’s basketball

Waynesburg 70, Bethany 63

The Yellow Jackets were never in danger of losing but the Bison kept it close in Waynesburg’s 70-63 PAC victory at Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.

Kalisty Friday and Kayla Howard shared game-high scoring honors for the Yellow Jackets in scoring 15 points apiece. Julz Mohrbacher added 13 points for the home team.

Waynesburg had a 19-12 lead after the first quarter, and after Bethany had a 17-13 edge in the second, the Jackets hung on to a 32-29 advantage.

Both teams scored 16 in the third quarter before Waynesburg outscored the Bison, 22-18, in the fourth.

Washington & Jefferson 84, Chatham 61

The Presidents had a 22-point lead after the first quarter and never looked back in an 84-61 triumph in PAC play at W&J.

Washington & Jefferson moved into sole position of first place in the conference at 11-1. Chatham drops to 11-2 in PAC action.

Adalynn Cherry scored a career-high 20 points for the home team. Teammate Katie Kovalchick also had a career-best with 19 points. Sarah Berardelli had 10 points.
