High school baseball: Robaugh’s homer powers Trinity

Matthew Robaugh hit a tiebreaking two-run homer and J.R. Rieg pitched six solid innings as Trinity defeated Connellsville 5-2 in a Class 5A Section 2 baseball game Wednesday night at Ross Memorial Park.

Trinity (1-0, 2-1) was locked in a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fourth when the Hillers’ Khi Bouman hit a leadoff double and scored on Robaugh’s two-run homer to left field. Trinity added an insurance run in the sixth inning.

Rieg allowed four hits, two runs and one walk over six innings. Jackson Burt pitched the seventh inning for a save. Rieg helped his cause with a double.

Connellsville is 0-1, 2-4.

Mt. Lebanon 2, Canon-McMillan 1

Canon-McMillan’s Seabastian Shulsky pitched two-run ball over six innings but the Big Macs were unable to generate much offense and lost 2-1 at Mt. Lebanon in a Class 6A Section 2 game.

Mt. Lebanon (1-0, 4-1) scored both of its runs in the second innings and three Blue Devils made sure they were enough. C-M (0-1, 0-3) was held to six hits, including a double and single by Ben Peterson and a double by Kolton Smittle.
