Big Macs top Mt. Lebanon in section play

Canon-McMillan scored two runs apiece in the sixth and seventh innings for a 12-8 victory at Mt. Lebanon in Class 6A Section 1 action Monday afternoon.

The Big Macs (4-4, 4-4) were led offensively by Olivia Ford and Hailey Swope.

Ford hit a home run and Swope doubled.

Brooke Bumer had 10 strikeouts and no walks in earning the pitching win.

Trinity 5, Peters Township 2

Remmie Seitz and Hanna Suhoski hit home runs in Trinity’s win at Peters Township in Class 5A Section 4.

The Hillers (5-2, 9-3) scored four runs in the second and fourth to take control before putting up a five-spot in the sixth.

Ally Krenzelak, Suhoski and Nina Christy doubled. Elena Tylka doubled for the Indians (1-5, 4-8).

Maddie Ray had six strikeouts and walked two in earning the win.

Charleroi 10, Beth-Center 0

Charleroi scored six runs in the second in a victory over Beth Center in Class 2A Section 3.

The Cougars (5-2, 8-2) added two runs in the first and one in the third and sixth innings.

Riley Jones was 2-for-3 with two doubles and winning pitcher Lyla Brunner was 2-for-3. Brunner had seven strikeouts and no walks.

The Bulldogs dropped to 3-3 in section and overall play.

Belle Vernon 12, Greensburg Salem 1

Belle Vernon jumped out early and never looked back in a victory over Greensburg Salem in Class 4A Section 2 play.

The Leopards (6-3, 11-3) had five extra-base hits, including triples by Katie Sokol, Lauren VanDivner and Bella Williams. Belle Vernon’s Gracie Sokol and Williams doubled.

Maddie Grisnik struck out two and walked one over five innings. Her lone miscue was a home run to Cate Waugamon.

South Fayette 14, Mars 10

South Fayette rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat Mars in Class 5A Section 3 play.

The Lions’ Cam Valentino had a double and triple, and teammate Maddie Cavenaugh had two doubles. South Fayette’s Emma Smith also doubled.

The Lions’ Liv Bonacci hit a home run.

South Fayette improved to 5-2 in section and overall play.

Waynesburg 16, Keystone Oaks 4

N Waynesburg had too much firepower in a triumph over Keystone Oaks in Class 3A Section 4 play.

The Raiders’ Gina Tedrow had 11 strikeouts and four walks. Tedrow had three doubles.

Waynesburg’s Dani Stockdale had two doubles. Aidan Snider and Eliana Makel also doubled for the Raiders (4-2, 6-6).

Mikalynn Good hit a home run for Waynesburg.

Monessen 21, St. Joseph 11

Sidney Campbell had six RBI on three hits in Monessen’s triumph over St. Joseph in Class A Section 3.

The Greyhounds (4-4, 4-5) scored nine runs in the third and seven in the fifth.

Joey Hurst had seven strikeouts and walked six. She also doubled. Campbell and Ayvionna Minnie had a two-base hit.

West Greene 12, Mapletown 2

West Greene used an eight-run third inning to take control in a triumph over Mapletown in Class A Section 2.

The Pioneers’ Marissa Tharp, Samantha Zimmerman and Madelyn Roberts doubled. Tharp added a triple.

Payton Gilbert had seven strikeouts and two walks in earning the win for West Greene (5-1, 6-3).

South Park 7, McGuffey 0

Sydney Sekely threw a no-hitter in South Park’s victory over McGuffey in Class 3A Section 4 play.

Sekely had 17 strikeouts and walked three.

The Highlanders dropped to 3-2 in section play and 6-3 overall.

Jefferson-Morgan 18, Avella 0

Jefferson-Morgan scored 16 runs in the second inning and rolled to a victory over Avella in Class A Section 2 play.

The Rockets’ Addy Larkin, Brooklynne Snyder, Karlee Crockard and Ava Wood doubled.

Emilee Bazzoli struck out three and walked one for the Jefferson-Morgan (4-2, 4-4).
