High school softball: C-H’s Ferri is perfect

Meadow Ferri fired a five-inning perfect game and Class A Section 2 lead Chartiers-Houston defeated visiting Mapletown, 10-0, Friday.

Ferri struck out 12 and had plenty of support from teammate Ella Richey, who went 4-for-4 with a home run and triple, four runs and three RBI.

C-H improved to 8-0 in section and 10-1 overall. Mapletown is 4-5, 4-7.

Carmichaels 7, Avella 2

Carys McConnell hit a three-run homer and had four RBI, Sydney Miller pitched a complete game and Carmichaels defeated Avella 7-2 in Class A Section 2.

Kaitlyn Waggett had two hits, including a double, and scored twice for Carmichaels (6-1, 9-2). Miller scattered six hits and struck out seven.

Taylor Shirley had a double for Avella (0-10, 3-12).

Bentworth 15, Burgettstown 3:

Class 2A Section 3 leader Bentworth scored 14 runs in the first three innings and defeated Burgettstown 15-3 in five innings.

Zoie McDonald went 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBI to lead the Bearcats (9-0, 11-2), who have won 10 in a row.

Nora Lindley and Willow Eckels also homered for Bentworth. Winning pitcher Sydney Gonglik doubled and tripled, and Sofia Gaussa doubled.Layla Sherman and Andi Midler doubled for Burgettstown (4-5, 5-8).
