High school basketball: Allison hits 1,000-point mark in West Greene win

Lane Allison made a 3-pointer on the second shot of the game for his 1,000th-career point in West Greene’s 40-29 non-section victory over Bentworth in boys basketball action Monday in Rogersville.
Allison, a junior, needed three points for the milestone entering the game. He had 17 to move his career total to 1,014.
Teammates Parker Burns and Patrick Durbin put in 10 points apiece.
Chris Harper scored 12 points for the Bearcats.
Thomas Jefferson 99, Belle Vernon 90
Zion Moore poured in 38 points for Belle Vernon but the Leopards fell short in a 99-90 setback in non-section play at Thomas Jefferson.
The Jaguars (19-3) had five players in double figures with Noah Prosser leading the way with 23 points. Nick Trklja had 21 and Brody Evans 19. Evan Berger put in 14 and Joey Mendyk added 10.
Belle Vernon’s Trevor Kovatch had 25 points and Alonzo Wade 10.
Thomas Jefferson had a 25-11 lead after the first quarter and a 49-37 halftime advantage. The Leopards (12-8) cut the deficit to eight at 73-65 but the Jaguars had a 26-25 edge in the fourth.
South Fayette 85, Seton LaSalle 66
The Lions jumped out early and never looked back in an 85-66 non-section victory at Seton LaSalle.
South Fayette (14-8) had a 28-11 first quarter lead and extended its advantage to 45-27. The Rebels (16-6) outscored the visitors by four in the third quarter before the Lions had a 24-19 edge in the fourth.
South Fayette had three players in double figures with Gavin Orosz’s 28 points leading the way. Michael Plasko put in 22 and Gino Satira added 19.
Hayden Merchant led Seton LaSalle in scoring with 22 points.
Peters Township 69, Baldwin 56
The Indians’ Jack Dunbar, Mickey Vaccarello and Nate Miller scored 12 points apiece and Nick McCullough added 10 in a 69-56 non-section victory at Baldwin.
Peters Township (16-5) had a 34-30 halftime lead before taking control in the third quarter by outscoring the home team, 19-12. The Indians had a 16-14 edge in the fourth.
Baldwin (16-6) was led in scoring by Matt Schenk’s 13 points. Teammate Max Mazina added 10.
Trinity 74, Beaver 72
Jonah Williamson scored a career-high 28 points and Trinity withstood a late charge to beat visiting Beaver 74-72 in a non-section game.
Trinity (10-12) led 42-35 at halftime and 56-44 after three quarters. Beaver (12-10), a Class 4A playoff team, rallied late behind a 35-point performance by Brady Mayo, who made seven three-point field goals. Beaver rallied and closed to within two points at 72-70, but Trinity’s Dante DeRubbo made two clutch free throws with less than 10 seconds remaining to secure the win.
Jacob Dunkle scored 27 points for the Hillers and Anthony Giorgi added 11. Williams’ 28 points included five three-point baskets.
Fort Cherry 89, South Side Beaver 60
Shane Cornali led four Fort Cherry players in double figures with a game-high 25 points and the Rangers rolled to an 89-60 road win over South Side Beaver in a non-section action.
A.J. Tarolli added a career-high 21 points for the Rangers (17-5), and Evan Rogers and Corey Bouchelle each tossed in 12. Fort Cherry led 44-32 at halftime and then outscored South Side 31-16 in the third quarter.
Brody Almashy led the Rams with 15 points.
Girls results
Peters Township 70, Greensburg CC 52
Peters Township bounced back from its first loss of the season with a resounding 70-52 home-court win over Greensburg Central Catholic in non-section action.
The Indians (21-1) led 17-11 after one quarter and pulled away by outscoring GCC (16-6) by a 35-20 margin over the next two quarters.
Gemma Walker and Natalie Wetzel again led PT in scoring with 22 and 20 points, respectively.
The Indians survived a 28-point performance by GCC’s Erica Gribble. Mya Morgan added 11.
Canon-McMillan 51, Fox Chapel 46
Canon-McMillan followed up its upset of then-undefeated Peters Township with a 51-46 victory over Fox Chapel in a non-section game on the Big Macs’ home court.
C-M (12-10) trailed 19-17 after one quarter but took a 36-29 lead into halftime. Fox Chapel (6-16) closed to within 41-39 after three quarters but the Big Macs secured the win with a 10-7 edge in the final period.
Nadia Davis led the way for Canon-McMillan, scoring a team-high 17 points. Madison Clair had 11 points.
Natalia Schaffer led the Foxes with 11 points.
Waynesburg 67, California 38
Kaley Rohanna scored a game-high 28 points and Waynesburg held California to 10 second-half points as the Raiders rolled to a 67-38 non-section victory.
Waynesburg (20-2) led 18-16 after the first quarter but pulled out to a 39-28 halftime edge. The Raiders then outscored California (10-12) 28-10 in the second half.
Avery Davis scored 13 points for Waynesburg and Josie Horne grabbed 13 rebounds.
Rakiyah Porter paced California with 19 points.
Central Valley 56, Chartiers-Houston 40
Nya Harris scored 27 points, powering Central Valley to a 56-40 victory over host Chartiers-Houston in non-section action involving playoff teams from different classifications.
Lilly Seese added 15 points for Central Valley (11-10), a Class 4A playoff team.
Ava Capozzoli was the only player in double figures for Chartiers-Houston (16-6). She had 16 points.
Monessen 54, Charleroi 39
The Greyhounds outscored the Cougars by 20 in the first and third quarters and rolled to a 54-39 victory in non-section play at Monessen.
The Greyhounds (17-5) will set their sights on the WPIAL Class A playoffs, as Monessen hosts Leechburg (8-10) next Monday in the first round.
Charleroi (9-13) was led in scoring by Bella Carroto’s game-high 17 points. Teammate Ella Sypolt had 11 in the Cougars’ final game of the season.
MyAsia Majors led Monessen in scoring with 14 points and Sidney Campbell added 13.
