JEFFERSON — Defending WPIAL Class 2A champion Burgettstown picked up another victory Wednesday night but this time the Blue Devils had to work a little harder, and come from behind, to put one in the win column.

The powerful Blue Devils had to battle back from a nine-point deficit and win the final six weight classes to defeat host Jefferson-Morgan, 44-24.

Burgettstown forged an early 9-0 lead, getting a pin by Gaven Suica (139) to start the match and a decision win by Logan Noyes at 145. A fall by the Blue Devils’ Rudy Brown (152) made it 15-0, but Jefferson-Morgan reeled off four consecutive bouts wins, all by fall, to grab a 24-15 lead. Chase Frameli (160), Grant Hathaway (172), Brock Bayles (189) and Adam McAnany (215) registered the pins for the Rockets.

After a decision victory at heavyweight, Burgettstown strung together five straight wins in the lower weights, including pins by Darius Simmons (107), and Parker Sentipal (133).
