Brown dropped a 2-1 decision to Owen J. Roberts’ Sam Gautreau in the 172-pound final. Gautreau scored a takedown with 11 seconds remaining in the first period for a 2-0 lead. Brown escaped in the second but Gautreau hung on for the victory and the title.

Despite the setback, Brown’s was 4-1 over the two-day tournament and his season record stands at 13-1. The Leopard sophomore was also competing in the finals against a senior who is committed to wrestle for Maryland in college and was fourth in the state in Class 3A last season.
