The world’s most prestigious off-road motorcycle racing series is set to continue its 53rd season of the Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing. For the past 47 years, Mt. Morris has been home to one of the sport’s crown jewels in High Point Raceway, which has hosted one the most storied events in American motocross since 1977, the High Point National.
The 46th running will serve as Round 4 of the 2024 season and will take place on Saturday.
High Point has been challenging racers and thrilling audiences since the championship’s early years. The sprawling, natural terrain layout features awe-inducing obstacles, from massive jumps to towering hillsides, which provide the setting for an incredible spectacle of speed, skill and the pursuit of victory. While the unparalleled skill of these uniquely gifted athletes make navigating the challenging terrain look graceful, this championship is the ultimate test of physical and mental fortitude that will push the best in the world to the limit.
Affectionately known as the “Country Club of Motocross,” the pristine, undulating landscape of High Point is befitting of its moniker with an amphitheater setting that makes for spectacular viewing. The track itself is legendary, with multiple elevation changes, moments of big air, and some of the most technical obstacles in the sport. The finishing touch comes from its positioning on the calendar, which has allowed the High Point National to become a Father’s Day tradition.
The schedule for Saturday begins at 8 a.m. with practice and qualifying. Opening ceremonies are set for 12:30 p.m. and the first motos, in the 250 and 450 classes, begin at 1 p.m. Second motos are scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
