Wild Things sign LHP Munoz

Washington signed left-handed pitcher Ryan Munoz in a series of transactions that occurred Tuesday.

Munoz appeared in five games this season for the Gary SouthShore Reilcats of the American Association. He had five strikeouts in 7.2 innings of work.

Munoz began his collegiate career at Upper Iowa before transferring to NAIA power Southeastern, where he completed his career in 2021 with an 11-1 record in 21 games. He started five games that season and had an ERA of 3.00 in 66 innings.

Munoz played for Kingsport in the Appalachian League following his collegiate career before signing with the New York Boulders of the Frontier League the same year.

Munoz appeared in 15 games with 10 starts during his initial season with the Boulders. He worked 77.2 innings and walked 25.

Munoz appeared in 27 games (one start) in 2022 and posted an ERA of 3.63. He struck out 37 and walked 15 in 44.2 innings. Munoz had a record of 4-2 and recorded one save.

The southpaw continued with New York in 2023, where he pitched in 23 games (11 starts) and had a record of 4-6 in 76.2 innings. He struck out 55 and walked 26.

The Wild Things placed outfielder Quincy Latimore on the inactive list Monday. Latimore has new job responsibilities and his first child is on the way.

Washington activated outfielder Alexander Ovalles from the 14-day IL and transferred infielder Tyreque Reed from the 7 to 14-day IL.
