SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – Caleb McNeely hit a tiebreaking two-run double in the seventh inning and Washington pulled away late for a 10-5 win over the Schaumburg Boomers on Friday night at Wintrust Field.

The game was the first in a season-long nine-game road trip for Washington. The Wild Things continued to be spectacular when away from home, improving their record to 15-3 in road games.

One night after Washington lost in sudden death to Gateway, the Wild Things and Schaumburg traded the lead until the seventh inning. With Schaumburg leading 5-4, Washington loaded the bases with one out. Alex Ovalles then hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Ethan Wilder and tied the score. McNeely followed with his two-run double to right centerfield that put the Wild Things ahead at 7-5.

Washington added one run in the eighth and two in the ninth.

Andrew Czech reached base five times to lead the Washington attack. Evan Berkey had two hits, including a double, and two RBI. Wagner Lagrange added three hits, including a double.

Ryab Munoz (1-0) was the winning pitcher with two scoreless innings in relief of starter Daniel Fregio, who went five innings.
